Riassunto
In questo studio abbiamo valutato la composizione degli acidi grassi piastrinici in soggetti con diagnosi clinica di Depressione Maggiore (DM) e in doggetti con diagnosi clinica di cardiopatia ischemica (IHD). Per quanto ne sappiamo, la composizione degli acidi grassi piastrinici non è mai stata analizzata in precedenza nella DM. I risultati, ottenuti con una Self Organizing Map (SOM), mostrano l’evidenza di tre acidi grassi, acido arachidonico (AA), acido linoleico (LA) e acido palmitico (PA) in posizione peculiare rispetto alla caratterizzazione biochimica di DM e tre acidi grassi, acido arachidonico (AA), acido linoleico (LA) e acido oleico (OA) in una posizione peculiare rispetto alla caratterizzazione biochimica della cardiopatia ischemica. Vengono discusse considerazioni nutrizionali sulla possibilità di modificare gli acidi grassi piastrinici in entrambe le patologie e la misura in cui la nutrizione può farlo.

Summary
In our study we have evaluated the theme of the platelet fatty acid composition in subjects with a clinical diagnosis of Major Depression (MD) and in subjects with a clinical diagnosis of Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD). As far as we know, the platelet fatty acid composition has never been analyzed before, in MD. The results, obtained with a Self Organizing Map (SOM), show the evidence of three fatty acids, Arachidonic Acid (AA), Linoleic Acid (LA), and Palmitic Acid (PA) in peculiar position with respect to the biochemical characterization of MD and three fatty acids, Arachidonic Acid (AA), Linoleic Acid (LA) and Oleic Acid (OA) in a peculiar position with respect to the biochemical characterization of the IHD. Nutritional considerations are discussed about the possibility to modify the platelet fatty acids in both pathologies and the extent to which nutrition can do it.
